MAG vs Formuler: Which Dedicated IPTV Box Is Right for You?

MAG and Formuler are the two best-known IPTV boxes, the ones built for live TV first and everything else second. Both work perfectly with IPTV Box 4K. They take quite different approaches, though, so here's how to choose.

MAG: the simplest IPTV box

MAG boxes are made by Infomir. They boot straight into an IPTV portal: you send us the box's MAC address, enter one portal URL in the settings, and the channel list appears. There's no app store to manage and nothing for the kids to break. The remote has number keys and works like a cable remote, which makes MAG a favourite with people coming from cable.

• Pros: very simple, cable-like experience, stable, Ethernet on every model.
• Cons: limited apps outside IPTV; the portal menu looks dated on some models.

Formuler: IPTV box meets Android

Formuler boxes, such as the Z11 Pro series, run Android with the MYTVOnline IPTV app built in. You get a polished TV guide, catch-up, multi-screen viewing and recording, plus access to an app store for other streaming apps. You can log in with a MAC-based portal or with Xtream details.

• Pros: excellent TV guide, fast, supports other apps, Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi.
• Cons: costs more than a basic MAG; more settings to explore.
