If you've only ever had cable, setting up an IPTV box can sound technical. It isn't. If your home internet can stream Netflix, it can run IPTV, and the whole setup takes about ten minutes. This guide takes you from a box in its packaging to watching Hockey Night in Canada.

What you need

  • An IPTV box or streaming device: an Android TV box, Fire TV Stick, MAG, Formuler, or a Samsung or LG Smart TV.
  • Internet: about 10 Mbps per HD screen, or 25 Mbps for 4K. Any Canadian provider works.
  • A subscription: your IPTV Box 4K login (username, password and server URL), sent on WhatsApp within 5-7 minutes of ordering.

Step 1: Connect the box

Plug the box into a free HDMI port on your TV and connect the power adapter. If you can, run an Ethernet cable from your router to the box: it's the best thing you can do for a stable picture. Switch the TV's input to the right HDMI port.

Step 2: Run the box's own setup

The first time it starts, the box asks for your language, your Wi-Fi network (skip this if you used a cable) and usually a Google or Amazon account. Let it install any updates before you continue, so the app store and system are current.

Step 3: Install the player app

IPTV plays inside a player app. On Android TV and Google TV boxes, install it from the Google Play Store. On a Fire TV Stick, use the free Downloader app and the link in your welcome message. MAG boxes don't need an app at all, and Formuler boxes use the built-in MYTVOnline app. Your welcome message names the recommended player for your device.

Step 4: Log in

Open the player and choose “Login with Xtream Codes API”. Type your username, password and server URL exactly as they appear in your message. Capital letters matter, so copy them carefully. On a MAG box, you paste a portal URL instead, and we link your account to the box's MAC address.

Step 5: Find your channels

Once everything loads, open Live TV. Channels are grouped into categories such as Canada, Québec, Sports, USA, Movies and Kids. Long-press your favourites so they appear at the top next time, and open the TV guide to see what's on now and next.

Tips for a smooth picture

  • Use Ethernet, or the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band with the router in the open.
  • Restart the router once a week, and the box if menus get slow.
  • Keep the player app updated.
  • Start live sport a few minutes early so the stream settles.

Every device has its own step-by-step guide on our setup page, and if you'd rather not do any of this, IPTV with box arrives already configured.

How long does it take to set up an IPTV box?

About 10 minutes for most people: 5 minutes for the box's own setup and 5 minutes to install the player app and log in.

Do I need a technician to install IPTV?

No. Everything is done on the TV with the remote. Our support team can walk you through it on WhatsApp if you get stuck.

Can I use the same login on several boxes?

Your login works on any device, but each subscription covers one stream at a time. Ask us to add connections for extra TVs.
